Our Reason to Relay:
We are medical researchers, staff, and friends of the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research. We've received a lot of support from the Cancer Council in past years, and this is our chance to give something back.
There is no Melbourne Relay for Life in 2020, but we wanted to keep the baton moving in some way. Cancer doesn't take a break just because there is a novel infectious disease circulating, and neither do we.
We will be walking on November 7-8, to show our support for the Cancer Council. Our plan is to walk in small groups, and use Strava to write messages across Melbourne, which we will share on our Facebook Page. We might even do some messy science, and rumour has it that the dragon onesie will be making an appearance.
If you are able to sponsor us, we would be delighted – but we know that times are tough for a lot of people right now. It's OK if you can't donate. (And if you can't, but still want to do something to support the Cancer Council, maybe try following them on social media and helping amplify their campaigns. Not all support is financial!)
We invite you to follow our blog (https://teamwehirelayforlife.wordpress.com) to find out a bit more about what we do, how you can support the Cancer Council and medical research generally, and maybe even learn a few science experiments to try at home...
