Thanks for shining a light of HOPE

Thank you to those who supported us and shined a light of HOPE on August 29 at the Melbourne Storm v North Queensland Cowboys match!

Cancer Council Victoria and Melbourne Storm are delighted to share the success of the Relay For Life Candlelight Ceremony that recently took place at AAMI Park.

The Purple Pride of Relay For Life participants, joining force with 15,045 Melbourne Storm fans, saw us shine a light of hope in the fight against cancer.

A HUGE thank you to the group organisers who rallied their team and purchased tickets.  We were able to sell over 160 tickets, with $1470 raised for participating teams! Thank you to those who travelled long distances to be a part of the inaugural Candlelight Ceremony, or to watch it from the stands. It was great to see Chairs, committee members, team captains and team members get behind the event and support it! We hope those participating enjoyed the experience of taking to the field, with candlebags lit up and the stadium in darkness, as we shined a light on cancer with three flames for the past, present and the future of a cancer-free world.

Congratulations to our highest ticket seller Kate Gale and her team of family and friends who got to experience the match from a Corporate Box.The ceremony was great, beautiful and for myself, a survivor, very moving! The icing on the cake was winning the corporate box and being able to share that with my family and friends!”

Thank you to Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust for donating $1 from every ticket sold at AAMI Park on the night, with a donation totalling $6151. Your support and generosity is much appreciated in the fight against cancer.

With donations, the proceeds from four team’s tin rattle at half time, Relay ticket sales and the on-the-night sales, the grand total raised from the TACKLE CANCER match is $8488! This money will go towards Cancer Council Victoria’s work in research, prevention and support.

Thank you to all our supporters, Melbourne Storm and Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust for hosting us!
