Susan Thomson, who was a Cairns family lawyer, died from cancer in November last year. In December, Louise Robert, from Cope Family Law, emailed solicitors she knew asking who would be interested in forming a Relay For Life team.
Eight ladies responded and the Legal Eagles came to life.
“We’re doing it in memory of Susan and to raise funds for the Cancer Council so they can continue all the good work that they do,” Ms Robert said. “I feel really privileged that I have these eight female lawyers of different levels of experience coming together to support this cause.”
Their first fundraising event is a Frock Swap tonight from 5.30pm at MacDonnells Law’s office. Entry is a gold coin donation and all funds will go to the Cancer Council.
