Sarina residents raised more than $38,000 for cancer research at Sarina's Relay For Life on Saturday.
Sarina Relay For Life cancer survivor and carers' co-ordinator Trevor Binnie said they had a great response from the community.
"The community itself and an overwhelming response from donations and supplies," he said.
"So many of the bare essentials have been supplied for free which was fantastic."
Committee chairman Tony Tomlinson said there had been an overwhelming response from the community.
"A lot of businesses and the general public have been fantastic," he said."
"Sarina probably has about 11,000 people and we have raised about $38,000 so far," he said
"That's a fairly good effort from everybody.
"There are 27 teams involved that we know of, there might be a few more registered. That's just fantastic for such a small community and for everyone to chip in and get involved."
Mr Binnie said the planning started in November, and was made up of a committee of about half a dozen people.
"The committee had to decide when, where, what prizes, what type of entertainment we would organise."
Mr Binnie said Mr Tomlinson had done most of the work.
